Story
The Taste of authentic Home Made Pizzas
A Brougham Street favourite, Pizza El Rocco is more than just a pizzeria—it’s a tribute to Kings Cross and its rich cultural history.
Established in 2022, this intimate eatery combines the charm of the 1950s and 60s with the timeless appeal of authentic, handcrafted pizzas.
The site’s previous lives as The Mezzanine, Mammazeza Pizza and Piazza Guru paved the way for a thoughtful transformation in 2022. Instead of opting for a contemporary overhaul, the space was lovingly restored to reflect the cool charm of Kings Cross in the 1950s and 60s.
The result?
A tiny, unique Italian eatery that feels like a secret gem, where every visitor is welcomed like family.
At the heart of Pizza El Rocco is our Pizzaiolo, Léon Alegria, who brings a European passion for authentic, homemade food.
Each pizza features a local take on a northern Italian tradition, using raw Australian honey, extra virgin olive oil, 00 flour, and Australian sea salt.
The dough undergoes a meticulous 48-hour slow-proofing process, resulting in a limited daily batch of carefully crafted bases.
We use only the freshest ingredients, always prioritising quality and health. With no shortcuts in our process, every slice reflects the care and attention we pour into our work.
Our pizzas are not mass-produced; they’re a labour of love.
Beyond our menu, Pizza El Rocco is deeply committed to its community.
We cherish our role as a neighbourhood hub in Kings Cross, forging close ties with locals and businesses to preserve the area’s vibrant diversity.
In many ways, our pizzas are a love letter to the neighbourhood we’re proud to call home.
Please note that we don’t take phone orders or offer delivery.
Instead, we invite you to visit and experience the warmth, history, and authentic flavours of Pizza El Rocco.
