Pizza El Rocco, established in 2022, is located at the renowned Brougham Street site that holds the distinction of being the birthplace of jazz in Australia.

Formerly known as The Mezzanine, Mammazeza Pizza, and Piazza Guru, the establishment underwent a modest renovation in 2022.
Rather than turning the restaurant into a flashy modern space, we embraced the history of the site and aimed to transport our customers back to the "cool" days of Kings Cross in the 50s and 60s. Our decor and ambience from that time period reflect this nostalgic vibe.
Our goal is to create a tiny, cosy, and unique Italian eatery reminiscent of those featured in your favourite shows or movies; a secret, local place where you can feel right at home and everyone feels welcome.

Our Pizzaiolo, Léon Alegria, grew up in Europe and yearned for the authentic taste of homemade pizzas. Hence, he crafted a range of small-batch, homemade-style pizzas.

Our pizzas’ main focus is our variation of a northern Italian-style dough, comprising raw Australian honey, extra virgin Australian olive oil, 00 flour, and Australian Sea Salt. Our dough undergoes a 48-hour slow proofing process, and the labor-intensive process of making our bases only allows us to produce a small batch daily.
We use the freshest ingredients every day, always opting for the best quality and healthiest options available.
We never compromise on quality, and taste is always our top priority. Our pizzas are not mass-produced, ensuring that every slice is crafted with care and attention to detail.

Apart from our pizzas, our main focus is our local community, which we deeply cherish, and we strive to be a good neighbor always. We maintain close relationships with our locals and local businesses, always considering how we can contribute to ensure that Kings Cross remains a diverse and wonderful home for all.

In a way, our pizzas and business are a love letter to our beloved Kings Cross.
